In the recent years, India has observed an incredible rise in the demand for video security. The main purpose of the surveillance project is to protect people from terror attacks, to prevent and investigate crime, not to mention to monitor the traffic.
Hence, to ensure the safety of its citizens a project to install CCTV cameras across a major city in the state of Maharashtra was mooted.

The Solution :
EDS-P206-4PoE switch was selected after rigorous selection process, scoring the highest marks in technical and commercial evaluation for networking.
PoE switches are specifically designed to meet IEEE 802.3af/at standards for powering PoE camera devices. The installation of PoE-enabled cameras in hard-to-reach, outdoor and remote area is simplified.

Project Requirements :
The client had various remote installations & energy consumption was not monitored. With cost optimization as a major focus, the client had to monitor the energy used & optimize it once the data is available… But @ remote stations, the customer had to select between – either having a localized system or to centrally get the data & analyze it This System Integrator used Moxa’s embedded computer to UC-74xx & later UC-84xx series to capture the serial data from Energy meters. It also stores data locally, besides sends it over the internet via its Ethernet port. Its second Ethernet port sends the data to the local display..
In a very remote location, where internet was not available, the customer had to transfer data via GPRS for which the GSM Modem was also used..
Embedded computers help the customer to get local data storage, thus no data is lost. With multiple serial ports, customer has a wide range of possibilities..
Project Name : Centralized Information & Management System

Project Requirements :
GSFC & its subdies have many Solar Farms, Wind Mills besides GIPCL’s 145 MW gas based Combined Cycle Power Plant & BECL’s 500+ MW lignite based Pithead Power Project.. There was a need to have a centralized monitoring system of all Power generation so that it will be easy to calculate the Power generated & thus provide GETCO with the required data so as to optimize usage of electricity
Implementation using UC-7122 Embedded Computers :
- To read the electricity generated by various generating units including the solar farms & windmills which were located remotely
- Cost Effective and High Reliability Embedded Computer Solution required
- Data to be directly stored in real time on their main server
- Because areas were remote, operation by battery was vital if power is not available (especially around Wind Mills) where generation depends on optimum wind speed etc.

Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is based on the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which provides smart meter data collection and analysis. One of the keys to managing dwindling energy resources is accurately measuring energy usage. Measurement is one of the first steps toward effective management and refining consumer behavior. AMI includes three major parts: smart meters, a control center, and a communication center. Current practice requires using power embedded computers as data concentrators to collect meter data from households and then send the data back to the control center for further analysis. The analysis can be used for demand management, implementing differential electricity rates, and for determining if new power plants are needed. Currently, electricity loss is higher than 40% in some developing countries; AMR can be expected to reduce this loss to less than 10%.
An AMR system requires some meters that can handle meter reading from home appliances and some power computers that can handle more complicated tasks, such as data acquisition, data computing, and data analysis. By integrating these meters, computers, and software programs, a smart solution can be created to establish an intelligent and distributed architecture for efficient meter reading and management.

Existing electric grids rely on staff in the field to manually read and record electricity use from physical meters. This is time-consuming and imposes significant labor costs on system maintenance. An Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system would increase the efficiency and response time of the entire grid.

Project Name : Fueling Automation

A major petroleum company required to automate their data collection system. Earlier the data collection for fuelling was done manually. A designated person used to note the amount of fuel used per day and after a week or 15 days this data was sent to the airline companies for billing. This process was time consuming, laborious and the petroleum companies incurred losses as the payment was done after 15 days. Further, since the data is manually collected the accuracy was also an issue
With UPC-12AH/GM45, 12.1″ panel pc we were able to eliminate most of the manual jobs. The data is now collected instantaneously and sent to the airline companies on the same day for billing. Earlier the computers used for this project use to break down frequently because of ignition current when the vehicle started, UPC-12AH has a built in battery because of which there is no fear of power outage & data loss. Also while fueling during mid-day when sun is high it becomes very difficult for the operators to look into PC screen, with 1000 nits panel UPC-12A we were able to solve this issue.
